WHEN WE ASKED WHY?

Why are you choosing to match $50,000 in donations to Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation?

It was a two-part answer:
1.) For Coach Lombardi. Our anonymous donor grew up in Green Bay (but now lives in California... we get it, the Frozen Tundra isn't for everybody). The great Coach Vince Lombardi was someone to be admired. When you grow up "adoring Vince," you never stop.

2.) Confidence in the money being put to good use. He saw the projects we've funded... research in colon cancer, rare pediatric brain and bone cancer, breast cancer prevention projects, chemo care packages and more.

Our anonymous $50,000 match donor was 74 when he was diagnosed with colon cancer and he's currently going through treatment for prostate cancer. But that's not where his battle began. In 2008, his wife was diagnosed with colon cancer. In 2016, she received more scary news-a breast cancer diagnosis. A fluke? No. These are the odds we're faced with. 1 in 2 will get cancer in their lifetime. The fight can't wait; get your gift matched today.

WONDERING WHERE YOUR DONATIONS GO?

At Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation, our mission to prevent, care, cure is fueled by Coach Lombardi's legacy. He too was diagnosed with colon cancer-and died before he even had the chance to fight. In his honor, we have funded some truly life-changing cancer projects, including the below 2023 Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation grant recipients. Your support allows us to do this year after year, and we couldn't be more grateful.

Meet Jezabel Rodriguez Blanco, PhD

Thanks to your generosity, Dr. Blanco's lab has identified a promising, less toxic therapy for children with medulloblastoma, the most common type of cancerous brain tumor in children.

Meet Jill Swanson, cancer survivor

After receiving a Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation grant earlier this year, Jill has delivered 135 care packages to help people with the side effects of cancer treatment.

Meet Jan Grimm, MD

Your support makes a real difference in Dr Grimm's work to improve cancer staging. Better understanding the stage of the cancer helps doctors develop treatment plans, making Dr. Grimm's research truly life changing.
